Below are listed some of the additions to be expected in future releases of
Amicon BBS. They are not all but some of the more important ones. Please, if
you can think of anything to add to the software that might be usefull let
me now and i'll see what i can do!.
- FREE FILES > I was hoping to have free files included by the time this
was released, but time got the better off me. I had thought of with holding
the new version untill it was done, but you lot keep moaning hehehehe.
- FIDONET > Nightmare time really, Eventually Amicon will be Fidonet compatible
It already has the ability to use trapdoor, but i have not supplied the
file to do this as Amicon has not been tested properly with Trapdoor.
As i don't really know alot about fido, it may take time to implement.
- Expansion to function 52, to allow Amicon to use ANY cli program and
communicate back to it. This would allow Amicon to use some of the CLI run
games that are floating around.
- The view and test archive function will be worked on. Although the functions
now work perfect, i want to make it so the sysop can define what sort of
archives to support, and also what archivers to use to view and test them.
This would make it totally compatible with any future archivers that come out.
- A scripting language that would allow any program to talk to Amicon direct.
This may or may not be usefull to sysops, It would allow you to do various
things to the BBS even whilst someone is online, without having to actually
touch the BBS at all. It would also allow the BBS to be controlled by other
programs and Cli scripts.
- Although Amicon is fairly Multiline already, i will be making it totally
Multi line compatible, as there are a few areas that would probablky cause
problems on a multi-line BBS.
- A total redo of the docs is really needed, Any one crazy enough to offer!
- Amicon is now fairly LARGE, so i will be splitting the main code up into
sections. These sections will only be loaded when needed by the BBS. The
modules will be doors, but not AMICON or PARAGON doors, they will be made
specifically for their task. Areas that would probably be split up are, the
message writing code, the cataloging code and the login sequences.
- A small CLI util that will sense when Amicon has crashed and then will reset
Your computer for you. This will require some coed change in the BBS itself,
so wont be around till the next version of AMICON is released.
